Product Details

The Pimoroni Rainbow HAT is a fantastic add - on board that offers a rich set of sensors, inputs, and displays. It's a great tool to explore Android Things™ on your Raspberry Pi. You can turn it into a weather station to keep an eye on temperature and pressure, use it as a clock to tell time, a timer or stopwatch for your daily activities, or even a mood light to set the right atmosphere. Pimoroni joined hands with the Android Things™ team at Google to create this amazing board. It features multiple displays, sensors, sound elements, and numerous LEDs, making it the ideal starting point for developing Android Things applications on the Raspberry Pi. Key features include seven APA102 multicolor LEDs, four 14 - segment alphanumeric displays with green LEDs, an HT16K33 display driver chip, three capacitive touch buttons, an Atmel QT1070 capacitive touch driver chip, blue, green, and red LEDs, a BMP280 temperature and pressure sensor, a piezo buzzer, and breakout pins for servo, 12C, SPI, and UART (all 3v3). The board showcases a wide range of protocols available on the Raspberry Pi, such as SPI for the APA102 LEDs, 12C for the BPM280 sensor and 14 - segment displays, GPIO for the capacitive touch buttons and LEDs, and PWM for the piezo buzzer. Visit the official Rainbow HAT driver project on GitHub for getting started instructions and code snippets. Note that the Raspberry Pi is not included with this product.

Using the Pimoroni Rainbow HAT is easy. First, make sure your Raspberry Pi is ready. Connect the Rainbow HAT to the Raspberry Pi according to the pin - out. Then, visit the official Android Things developer site and the GitHub project for the Rainbow HAT driver to get the necessary code and instructions to start your Android Things project. You can use it for various applications like a weather station or a clock. When using it, avoid exposing it to extreme temperatures and moisture. If you want to clean the board, use a soft, dry cloth. In case you face any issues, check the connections and refer to the official documentation. Remember, the Raspberry Pi is not part of this product, so you need to have one on your own to use the Rainbow HAT.
