Product Details

We, Little Bird and PiAustralia, have soldered hundreds of units with headers. Note that we no longer solder on the 3 - pin headers as many cases don't fit with them. Similar to a well - known tech company, Raspberry Pi developed its own custom ARM silicon, the RP2040. The Raspberry Pi Pico is a low - cost and flexible development platform for the RP2040. Key features include an RP2040 microcontroller with 2MByte Flash, a Micro - USB B port for power, data, and reprogramming the Flash. It has a 40 - pin 21x51 'DIP' style 1mm thick PCB with 0.1' through - hole pins and edge castellations, exposing 26 multi - function 3.3V GPIO (23 digital - only and 3 ADC - capable). It can be surface - mounted as a module and has a 3 - pin ARM Serial Wire Debug (SWD) port. The power supply architecture is simple yet flexible, with various powering options from micro - USB, external supplies, or batteries. It offers high quality, low cost, and high availability, along with a comprehensive SDK, software examples, and documentation. The RP2040 microcontroller has dual - core cortex M0+ at up to 133MHz, on - chip PLL for variable core frequency, 264K multi - bank high - performance SRAM, external Quad - SPI Flash with eXecute In Place (XIP), a high - performance full - crossbar bus fabric, on - board USB1.1 (device or host), 30 multi - function General Purpose IO (4 for ADC), and various digital peripherals. The Pico provides minimal but flexible external circuitry to support the RP2040 chip. Most of the RP2040 pins are brought to the user IO pins on the board edges. Four RP2040 IO are for internal functions. It can use soldered 0.1' pin - headers or be used as a surface - mountable module, with SMT pads under the USB connector and BOOTSEL button for signal access in SMT use.

Using the Raspberry Pi Pico with Headers is quite straightforward. First, power it up. You can choose to use a micro - USB cable, an external power supply, or a battery. When programming, connect it to your computer via the micro - USB port. The included SDK and software examples will help you get started quickly. If you want to use it with headers, make sure you check if the case you plan to use can accommodate them. As we no longer solder the 3 - pin headers by default, you may need to do it yourself if required. For maintenance, keep it in a dry and clean environment. Avoid exposing it to extreme temperatures or humidity. If you use it as a surface - mountable module, be careful during the soldering process. When accessing signals through the SMT pads under the USB connector and BOOTSEL button, use proper tools to avoid short - circuits.
