Product Details

This awesome 2x5 (10 pin - 0.1 spaced) IDC Breadboard Helper is a perfect match for our 10-pin IDC cables. It consists of two parts: a 'pin-through' socket and a male header. The socket sits across the center of a breadboard or Perma-Proto, and then the header plugs into the top of the socket. IDC cables are standard but tricky to use with breadboards. This helper is an affordable and effective solution for prototyping. Soldering it in place gives the best results. We've used it on a solderless breadboard, but some customers say their breadboards don't work well with the shorter pins. Each order includes one socket and one header. Note that the breadboard, Perma Proto, and IDC cable are not included. We also offer helpers for 2x20, 2x16, 2x13, 2x8, and 2x3 pins.

Using this IDC Breakout Helper is easy. First, place the socket across the center of your breadboard or Perma - Proto. Then, simply plug the male header into the top of the socket. After that, you can connect your 10 - pin IDC cable to start prototyping. For the best performance, we suggest soldering the helper in place. But if you want to use it on a solderless breadboard, go ahead, though some breadboards might not work well with the shorter pins. When it comes to maintenance, keep it clean and dry. If you notice any loose parts, check the connection or consider soldering again. Remember, each order only comes with one socket and one header, and you'll need to get your own breadboard, Perma Proto, and IDC cable.
