Create eye - catching colors with these 10mm diffused tri - color LEDs! Each LED has separate red, green, and blue chips, making them great as indicators and super fun for creating color - swirling effects. Diffused RGB LEDs are awesome because they blend colors internally, rather than looking like three distinct LEDs. These are Common - Anode type LEDs. You simply connect one pin to around 5V and then connect the other three legs to ground via a resistor. We prefer and use Common - Anode (CA) more than Common - Cathode (CC) since many multi - LED driver chips, like the TLC5940/TLC5941, are designed specifically for CA and won't work with CC. Features include a 10mm diameter, red with a 623 nm wavelength, green at 523 nm, and blue at 467 nm. The forward voltage is 1.8 - 2.2V for red, 3.0 - 3.4V for green and blue at 20mA current. They have a 50 - degree viewing angle and typical brightness of 700 mcd for red, 2100 mcd for green, and 900 mcd for blue. A datasheet is also available. If you're new to using LEDs, check out our 'Introduction to using LEDs' tutorial for your electronics projects.

Using these 10mm diffused RGB LEDs is easy. First, make sure you know it's a Common - Anode type. Connect one pin to about 5V power. Then, use a resistor to connect the other three legs to the ground. This will help control the current and keep the LEDs working well. When it comes to creating colors, you can adjust the current going through the red, green, and blue chips to get different shades. They're great for use as indicators in your electronics projects or for making cool color - changing displays. As for maintenance, keep them away from excessive heat and moisture. If you're having trouble, refer to the datasheet for more detailed information. And if you're new to working with LEDs, don't forget to read our 'Introduction to using LEDs' tutorial.
