Piezo Buzzer [PS1240]

Piezo buzzers are great for creating beeps, tones, and alerts. This particular piezo buzzer is small yet incredibly loud! It can be driven with a 3 - 30V peak - to - peak square wave. To use it, just connect one pin to the ground (either pin will do) and the other pin to a square wave output from a timer or microcontroller. For the loudest tones, aim for around 4 KHz, though it works well from 2KHz to 10KHz. If you want extra loudness, connect both pins to a microcontroller and alternate which pin is high or low (differential drive) to double the volume. Here is the datasheet.

Using this piezo buzzer is easy. First, find a 3 - 30V peak - to - peak square wave source. Then, pick either pin and connect it to the ground. Connect the other pin to a square wave output from a timer or microcontroller. For the best sound, try to set the frequency around 4 KHz, but it'll still work fine between 2KHz and 10KHz.
