Product Details

Some folks dream of a trip to NYC, but if you'd rather avoid the crowds and cold, bring the essence of the Big Apple right into your home with this amazing Times Square Traveler Pack. The screens in this pack are just like those lining NYC's billboards. With Adafruit's top - selling RGB Matrix HAT, you can create a stunning scrolling display to rival the ones in Times Square. The included Matrix HAT is our best yet, packed with great circuitry. Here's what makes it special: Simple design - just plug in power, connect the IDC cable, and run our Python code! Power protection circuitry safeguards your setup from negative, over, or under - voltages. Onboard level shifters convert the RasPi's 3.3V to 5.0V for a clean and glitch - free matrix drive. The DS1307 Real Time Clock keeps track of time even when the Pi is rebooted or powered down, perfect for nice time displays. The kit includes a Smoke Gray Pi Model B+ / Pi 2 / Pi 3 Case Base, a 32x32 RGB LED Matrix Panel with 5mm pitch, an Adafruit RGB Matrix HAT + RTC for Raspberry Pi Mini Kit, a 5V 4A switching power supply suitable for basic scrolling text on the RGB Matrix, and an 8GB MicroSD Card with full PIXEL desktop NOOBS v2.4. Note: This product doesn't come with a Raspberry Pi 3. For a limited time, Arrow is including Pi 3s in these packs if you want a version with a Pi. Some soldering is needed to assemble the RGB Matrix HAT, so make sure you have a soldering iron and solder. Check out our RGB Matrix HAT learn guide to get started. Made in collaboration with Arrow Electronics!

Using this product is a breeze. First, assemble the RGB Matrix HAT. You'll need to do some soldering, so grab your soldering iron and solder to attach the headers. Once assembled, plug in the power to the Matrix HAT and connect the IDC cable. Then, run the provided Python code on your Pi. You can create beautiful scrolling displays just like those in Times Square. The power supply included is good for basic scrolling text displays. Remember, this product doesn't come with a Raspberry Pi 3, but for a limited time, you can get one in the pack from Arrow. The DS1307 Real Time Clock will keep track of time for your Pi, even when it's rebooted or powered down. For maintenance, keep the components clean and away from moisture. If you have any issues, refer to our RGB Matrix HAT learn guide. Have fun bringing a bit of NYC into your home!
