Product Details

The CCS811 Air Quality Sensor is a high - performance device that can accurately measure eCO2 (equivalent CO2) and TVOC (Total Volatile Organic Compounds) density. It's a great choice for a wide range of applications like air quality detection in cars and indoors, air purifiers, smart homes, and ventilation systems. Using AMS's unique micro - hot plate technology, it outshines conventional gas sensors. It has lower power consumption, faster heating, and a smaller size. With internally integrated ADCs and MCUs, it can collect, calculate, and return data via I2C. It also supports a concentration alarm that goes off when the concentration exceeds the user - set threshold. The sensor offers multiple modes including detecting every second, every 10 seconds, every minute, every 250ms, and a sleep mode. These modes are designed for low power consumption, making it perfect for portable applications. Note that the chip stretches the clock in I2C, so it may not work with some controllers such as Raspberry Pi. Features include a short warm - up time, low power consumption, high - integrated MCUs and ADCs, and an IAQ threshold alert. It operates at a voltage of 3.3V - 5.5V, has a warm - up time of less than 15s, and comes with an I2C address of 0x5A (default) or 0x5B. Its operating temperature ranges from - 40℃ to 85℃, and the operating humidity range is 10%RH - 95%RH. The eCO2 measuring range is 400ppm - 8000ppm, and the TVOC measuring range is 0ppb - 1100ppb. It has dimensions of 16*20mm or 0.63*0.79 inches. You can find more information in the product wiki.

Using the CCS811 Air Quality Sensor is quite straightforward. First, make sure to connect it properly according to the specifications. You can choose different detection modes based on your needs, like detecting every second if you need real - time data or using the sleep mode to save power when not in use. When setting up, be aware that the sensor may not work with some controllers such as Raspberry Pi due to clock stretching in I2C. For the best results, keep the sensor within its operating temperature range of - 40℃ to 85℃ and humidity range of 10%RH - 95%RH. Don't expose it to extreme conditions. As for maintenance, there's not much to do. Just keep it clean and avoid physical damage. If you set a concentration alarm, regularly check and adjust the threshold according to your environment. You can refer to the product wiki for more detailed information.
