Product Details

Due to restrictions from the module manufacturer SIMCOM, shipping this product and providing tech support to Iran, North Korea, Cuba, Sudan, and Syria are prohibited. This globally applicable NB-IoT/Cat-M (eMTC)/GNSS HAT for Raspberry Pi is based on the SIM7080G. It's a multi - functional telecommunication HAT with NB - IoT (NarrowBand - Internet of Things), Cat - M (eMTC, enhanced Machine Type Communication), and GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) capabilities. As 2G/3G networks fade with the rise of LTE, the future belongs to IoT technologies, including low - bandwidth NB - IoT/Cat - M and high - bandwidth 4G/5G. This HAT supports global NB - IoT and Cat - M bands and has a positioning function. With its small size, low delay, and wide coverage, it's perfect for IoT applications like intelligent instruments, asset tracking, remote monitoring, and e - health. Features include a standard Raspberry Pi 40PIN GPIO extension header for Raspberry Pi series boards, support for multiple communication protocols, GNSS positioning for GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, and Galileo, an onboard USB interface for testing AT Commands and getting GPS data, breakout UART control pins for connection with Arduino/STM32, an onboard voltage translator switchable between 3.3V and 5V, a SIM card slot for 1.8V SIM cards, 3 LED indicators for easy status monitoring, a baudrate range of 300 - 3686400 bps with common baudrate auto - negotiation, and it comes with development resources and a manual. Communication specifications cover GNSS with 16 - channel, C/A code receiver, specific frequency bands, a 1Hz update frequency, NMEA - 0183 data format, and an active antenna. Other specifications include a 5V power supply voltage, switchable logic level, current consumption details for different modes, an operating temperature range of - 40°C to 85°C, a storage temperature range of - 45°C to 90°C, and dimensions of 30.2mm x 65mm. Note that the Raspberry Pi in the photo is not included. The package includes a SIM7080G Cat - M/NB - IoT HAT, an LTE antenna, a GPS External Antenna (B), a USB type A plug to micro plug cable, a 2×20PIN female header, and an RPi screws pack. You can find more information on the wiki: www.waveshare.com/wiki/SIM7080G_Cat - M/NB - IoT_HAT.

Using this HAT is straightforward. First, connect it to your Raspberry Pi board using the standard 40PIN GPIO extension header. Then, insert a 1.8V SIM card into the SIM card slot. You can use the onboard USB interface to test AT Commands and get GPS positioning data. If you want to connect it to other host boards like Arduino or STM32, use the breakout UART control pins. Remember, due to manufacturer restrictions, this product can't be shipped or supported in Iran, North Korea, Cuba, Sudan, and Syria. When it comes to power, make sure to supply 5V. You can configure the logic level between 5V and 3.3V via the onboard jumper. For maintenance, keep it in a dry environment within the operating temperature range of - 40°C to 85°C and storage temperature range of - 45°C to 90°C. If you need more help, check the development resources and the manual that come with the product, or visit the wiki at www.waveshare.com/wiki/SIM7080G_Cat - M/NB - IoT_HAT.
