Product Details

The MyoWare LED Shield is a great companion for the MyoWare Muscle Sensor. It features a blue 10-segment bar graph that clearly shows the strength of the measured signal. The more the muscle activates, the higher the LEDs light up on the board. With this shield, you can easily visualize the signals from the MyoWare Muscle Sensor. It also comes with an on - board lithium polymer (LiPo) power source. This shield is usually the top board in a stack. Just solder on some 1x3 male headers and plug it into the sensor board. The power is supplied on the LED shield but controlled by the power switch on the sensor. After assembling the stack, snap on some electrodes and attach the sensor to the target muscle. The MyoWare Muscle Sensor that this shield attaches to is an Arduino - powered, all - in - one electromyography (EMG) sensor from Advancer Technologies. It measures the filtered and rectified electrical activity of a muscle and outputs 0 - Vs Volts based on the muscle activity. Note that the MyoWare Power Shield and the MyoWare LED Shield provide power at slightly different voltages, so don't use them together. Also, due to the installed battery, this item may take longer to process and doesn't qualify for same - day shipping. The batteries can't be shipped to Alaska or Hawaii via Ground or Economy methods. Documents include Schematic, Eagle Files, MyoWare Muscle Sensor & Shields Guide, and GitHub.

Using the MyoWare LED Shield is easy. First, solder 1x3 male headers on the shield and plug it into the sensor board. Then, assemble the stack. Next, snap on the electrodes and stick the sensor on the muscle you want to measure. The blue bar graph on the shield will show you how active the muscle is. Remember, the power for the shield is supplied by it, but you control it with the switch on the sensor. There are a couple of things to note. Don't use the MyoWare Power Shield and the MyoWare LED Shield at the same time because they have different voltage outputs. Also, because there's a battery in the equipment, it might take longer to process your order, and it won't qualify for same - day shipping. And you can't ship the batteries to Alaska or Hawaii via Ground or Economy methods. As for maintenance, keep the shield and sensor clean and dry. Store them in a cool place when not in use. If you need more technical details, check out the Schematic, Eagle Files, MyoWare Muscle Sensor & Shields Guide, and the GitHub repository.
