Product Details

LoRa is a revolutionary innovation in wireless communication, enabling multi - kilometer transmissions. While point - to - point LoRa is achievable with low - cost Semtec - based modules like the RFM95, the real strength of an open IoT network lies in LoRa gateways. These gateways offer global public access to any LoRa node, provided the node adheres to bandwidth usage guidelines. The LoRa Raspberry Pi Gateway is a professional - grade device designed with hackers in mind. Unlike single - channel low - cost gateways, it features a fully heat - sinked concentrator that supports multi - channel and multi - node communication in a user - friendly, hackable Raspberry Pi environment. It uses the high - power multichannel SX1301 processing engine, specifically crafted for LoRa gateways. If you're just testing LoRa, a single - channel gateway like our ESP32 1 - Channel LoRa Gateway based on the SX1276/78 RFM95 module will do. But for multiple public LoRa nodes, you need this proper gateway. The 915MHz LoRa gateway, designed for the US and Australia, comes fully assembled in a black anodized aluminum enclosure with a Raspberry Pi 3 as its core. You'll need to supply your own microSD card. We suggest using Resin to create your Linux image. RAK Wireless has a great tutorial to guide you through setup. The gateway includes a 2dBi 915MHz antenna and a multi - frequency GNSS (GPS) antenna, and we offer 2dBi ½ wave and 6dBi antenna upgrades for extended range.

Using your LoRa Raspberry Pi Gateway is easy. First, make sure you have your own microSD card. We recommend using Resin to create your Linux image. Follow the well - written tutorial by RAK Wireless to set up the gateway. Once it's set up, it will provide global public access to LoRa nodes that follow the bandwidth guidelines. For maintenance, keep the black anodized aluminum enclosure clean and in a dry place. If you want to increase the LoRa range, you can upgrade the antennas we offer. Just be aware that when using multiple public LoRa nodes, ensure they don't exceed the allowed bandwidth share.
