Product Details

The Inky wHAT features a large 4.2' EPD display (400x300 pixels) that offers significantly more space to show information. Just like the Inky pHAT, it's crisp and highly readable even in bright sunlight. This display module can be used in various ways, such as a detailed weather display, a calendar, for daily news reports, to list household chores, or even as a tiny DIY e - reader for your e - books. It comes fully assembled, with no soldering required. Simply pop it on your Pi and run our installer. It includes a 40 - pin female header for full - size Pis and standoffs for secure attachment. Some additional pins like I2C and SPI are broken out on the back, allowing you to connect extra devices and show their data on the display. It's compatible with all 40 - pin header Raspberry Pi models. Our Python library simplifies displaying text and images, and we've provided a one - line installer for easy setup. The multi - color EPD display uses electrophoresis to show colors, and it takes about 25 seconds to refresh. As a pro - tip, you can treat the three - color display as black and white for a much quicker refresh in just a couple of seconds. Note that the display is made of glass, so it's fragile. Handle it carefully by gripping the edges of the board when fitting. The overall dimensions are 91x77x8.5mm (WxHxD), and the display usable area is 84.8x63.6mm (WxH), with a 4.2' diagonal.

Using the Inky wHAT is super easy. First, just pop it onto your Raspberry Pi that has a 40 - pin header. Then, run the one - line installer for the Python library we've provided to get everything set up. You can use it for many things like checking the weather, seeing your calendar, or reading e - books. When you want to refresh the display, keep in mind that it takes about 25 seconds for the full multi - color refresh. But if you're in a hurry, you can treat it as a black and white display for a much faster refresh in just a couple of seconds. Now, a very important thing to remember is that the display is made of glass, so it's quite fragile. When you're fitting the Inky wHAT onto your Pi, don't press on the display directly. Instead, grip the edges of the board. Also, try not to drop it or press too hard on it, or it might crack. There's no need to do any soldering as it comes fully assembled. And if you want to connect additional devices, you can use the I2C and SPI pins on the back. That's all there is to it! Enjoy using your Inky wHAT.
