Product Details

The Sensor Film Kit offers an exciting new way to craft custom-sized sensors from force-sensitive material. This kit comes with one piece of black plastic sensor film, which is thicker and more durable than Velostat but has a similar function. It also includes two pieces of heavy aluminum foil for electrodes and two pieces of clear adhesive polyester film to hold the sensors together. The sensor film is extremely durable and changes its electrical resistance when force is applied. It's like Velostat but more responsive. You can use this kit to make a Force Sensing Resistor (FSR) of any size for your microcontroller project. There's more information on the Sensor Film Kit site, including easy instructions on making a basic sensor and examples of what you can do with the kit. Note that this is the Small Sensor Film Kit and does not include alligator clips. However, we sell a variety of alligator clips that are compatible with this product.

Using the DIY Sensor Film Kit is easy. First, take the black plastic sensor film. This is the main part that will sense the force. Next, use the heavy aluminum foil as electrodes. Place the foil on the sensor film as per the instructions on the kit's site. Then, use the clear adhesive polyester film to hold everything together. When making your FSR for your microcontroller project, you can cut the sensor film to your desired size. Just make sure to handle the sensor film gently as it's sensitive. As for maintenance, keep the kit in a dry and cool place. Avoid bending or folding the sensor film too much as it might affect its performance. Remember, this small kit doesn't come with alligator clips, but you can buy compatible ones from us if you need them.
