Product Details

This charming 16 x 3 character LCD is a must - have for your Display - O - Tron projects. It comes with an RGB backlight breakout board, allowing you to easily mount it. We've added special circuitry so the display can run on either 3V3 or 5V power. The RGB backlight, driven by FETs on the board, makes your project look super cool! Just send a logic level signal (which can be PWM - ed) to the R, G, and B pins. Key features include a high - contrast 3 x 16 character LCD display, a bright RGB backlight controllable with PWM signals, M2.5 mounting holes, an ST7036 controller supporting 4 - bit, 8 - bit, and SPI interfaces, and it can operate from either a 5V or 3V3 power supply. It supports SPI, 4 - bit, and 8 - bit addressing, just like an HD44780 display, making it a breeze to use with many micro - controllers or platforms such as the Raspberry Pi. The datasheet has sample wiring diagrams for all operation modes. You can use this LCD with your Raspberry Pi via our Python ST7036 driver or with an Arduino using the DogLcd library. Note: this is a kit that requires basic soldering.

Using this LCD is easy. First, if you're using it with a Raspberry Pi, install the Python ST7036 driver. For Arduino, use the DogLcd library. When powering it, you can choose either 3V3 or 5V according to your needs. To control the RGB backlight, send a logic level signal to the R, G, and B pins. If you want to adjust the brightness, use PWM signals. Remember, this is a kit, so you'll need to do some basic soldering. Be careful when handling the soldering iron and make sure all connections are secure. As for maintenance, keep it away from moisture and extreme temperatures. If there are any issues, refer to the datasheet which has useful wiring diagrams on page 4.
