Product Details

Although this product has been discontinued by Adafruit, Pimoroni offers a version. It's a companion kit for the highly popular 'Adventures in Raspberry Pi' book by Carrie Ann Philbin. This book is an excellent beginner's guide to the Raspberry Pi. With this kit, you can do the interactive projects in the second half of the book. Best of all, no soldering is needed! It's plug-and-play, making it super easy for anyone, even those new to electronics, to start their electronics adventures. The kit includes: 1 Adafruit GPIO Reference Card for Raspberry Pi Model B+ (if using a Raspberry Pi Model B, consider getting a model B card too), 1 full-sized breadboard, 20 premium 3 - foot male/male jumper wires, 20 premium 6 - foot female/male 'extension' jumper wires, 1 diffused 10mm red LED, 1 diffused 10mm green LED, 5 10K ohm 5% 1/4W resistors, 5 330 ohm 5% 1/4W resistors, 5 12mm tactile buttons with switch covers like those in the Colorful Round Tactile Button Switch Assortment, 1 assembled standard LCD 16x2 - white on blue, and 1 10K potentiometer. Note that the book is not included. This is just the electronics parts pack, designed for those who already have Philbin's book and a Raspberry Pi Model B+. The projects work with both Model B and B+. Carrie Anne Philbin, a high - school computing teacher advising the U.K. government on the ICT curriculum, makes this kit a great way to get kids into programming and electronics.

Using this parts pack is a breeze. First, make sure you have Carrie Ann Philbin's 'Adventures in Raspberry Pi' book and a Raspberry Pi Model B or B+. If you're using a Model B, you might want to grab a model B GPIO reference card. Start by looking at the projects in the second half of the book. Then, pick the components you need from the pack. Since it's plug - and - play, you can easily connect the jumper wires, LEDs, resistors, buttons, and the LCD screen to your Raspberry Pi without any soldering. When handling the components, be gentle. Avoid bending the pins of the LEDs, resistors, or the GPIO reference card. Store the parts in a dry and cool place when not in use to prevent damage. If you have any questions during your projects, refer back to the book for guidance.
