Product Details

Let's face it - keeping your houseplant alive can be tough, and the biggest challenge is often remembering to water it. That's where the Chirp! Plant Watering Alarm comes in. This amazing device from wemakethings is designed to help your plants thrive by reminding you when it's time to water them. Using it is a breeze. Just insert the discreet black PCB with a CR2032 battery into your plant's soil, click the button on the back to set the 'dry point,' and then water your plant. The device will sense the soil moisture and 'chirp' through a piezo when the soil dries out, letting you know your plant is thirsty. Note: This product doesn't come with a CR2032 battery, but you can get one here! But that's not all. The Chirp! is also fully hackable and customizable. You can connect to it via I2C to interact with it, log light and moisture data, and take complete control of your houseplant care. Get creative and come up with some cool plant hacks. For more details on how it works, check out their informative website. The moisture sensor is open - source, and all the code and schematics are available.

Using the Chirp! Plant Watering Alarm is super easy. First, make sure you have a CR2032 battery (it doesn't come with the product, so you'll need to get one). Then, stick the black PCB into your plant's soil. After that, click the button on the back to set the 'dry point.' Water your plant as you normally would. The device will then start monitoring the soil moisture. When the soil gets dry to the point you set, it will 'chirp' to let you know your plant needs water. As for maintenance, keep the device clean and dry. If you want to customize it, you can connect to it via I2C, but be careful not to damage the device during the process. Also, make sure to check the battery regularly and replace it when it runs out.
