Product Details

Pogo pins are small spring - loaded contacts that are incredibly useful. They're great for creating jigs or making momentary yet electrically reliable connections. We often use them in programming and testing jigs. If you need to JTAG program a board where soldering headers isn't an option, just insert these thin contacts into a 0.1' pitch IDC programming cable and press it onto the contacts. These pogo pins are perfect as they're thin enough to fit into most proto or perf boards. The body (the gold part) has a diameter of 1.0mm/0.04', while the spring contact head is 1.3mm (0.05') wide. The uncompressed length is 16.5mm/0.65', and when compressed, it's 14.2mm/0.56'. Check out our tutorial on making pogo - pin jigs!

Using these pogo pins is easy. First, if you're making a programming or testing jig, simply place the pins in the appropriate spots on your board. For JTAG programming, insert the thin contacts into a 0.1' pitch IDC programming cable and press it onto the board's contacts. When handling the pins, be gentle as the spring mechanism is delicate. Avoid dropping them or applying excessive force. To maintain these pogo pins, keep them in a dry place to prevent rust. If they get dirty, you can use a soft brush to clean them. But don't use any harsh chemicals as they might damage the gold - plated body.
