Product Details

These amazingly tiny surface-mount LEDs are a great way to add lots of small yet bright colorful dots to your project. They're incredibly compact, just 2mm square. Due to their small size, hand soldering might be a bit tricky, and SMT techniques with solder paste and hot air work best. These Nano (2mm x 2mm) RGB LEDs are one-third the size of mini 3535-sized NeoPixels and one-sixth the size of standard 5050mm NeoPixels. They're the most space-efficient way to integrate multiple bright LEDs into your design. The built-in driver chip has a ~12mA constant current drive, ensuring consistent color even with voltage variations. No external choke resistors are needed, making your design simple. Power it with 5VDC and you're good to go. Each LED has red, green, and blue components. A tiny chip controls the RGB LEDs, taking 24-bit color levels via clock and data inputs and handling all PWM control. You just set the color data once. Like other NeoPixels, you can chain them together for long strips. It comes in a strip of 10 pieces. Ordering multiple strips will give you separate 10-piece strips, not one long one. Note that this is a surface mount part, designed for use on SMD PCBs. You can solder thin wires to the pads, but if you're not comfortable with hand-soldering SMD parts, check out our other RGB LEDs. Our detailed NeoPixel Uberguide has all you need to use NeoPixels in any shape and size, including ready-to-go library and example code for various Arduino boards.

Using these NeoPixel Nano RGB LEDs is easy. First, make sure you have a 5VDC power source. You can connect the strips together to create longer lengths. To set the color, just send the 24-bit color data once to the tiny control chip. When it comes to soldering, since these are surface mount parts, it's best to use SMT techniques with solder paste and hot air. Hand soldering can be tough because of their small size. If you're not confident with hand - soldering SMD parts, consider our other RGB LED options. When storing, keep them in a dry and cool place to prevent damage. And if you need more help, check out our detailed NeoPixel Uberguide which has example code for different Arduino boards to get you started right away.
