Product Details

Mote is the ultimate and most fashionable way to illuminate your home or even your ship! It's perfect for under - shelf or under - cabinet lighting. You can also use it to light up the emergency exits on your super - yacht. Mote comes with a USB controller having four channels. It connects to your computer via a USB A to micro B cable. There are up to four APA102 RGB LED strips, each with 16 pixels (64 pixels in total per USB controller, though the firmware can handle 128 pixels per channel). The USB controller can get power from your computer directly, but we've added a power boost port. You can connect a 2+A power supply to it to make the pixels extremely bright. You can run multiple USB controllers on one computer, and the only limit is power supply. Mote works well with any computer, whether it's Linux (including Raspberry Pi 3, 2 or B+), Mac, or Windows. If you need a more compact option for the Pi Zero, there's Mote pHAT that lets you control Mote sticks through your Pi's GPIO. Features include 16 - pixel APA102 RGB LED strips (18cm long, 4 strips in the Complete Kit), a USB controller with four micro USB channels, a USB A to micro B cable for connection to your computer (included in the Complete Kit), a micro USB power boost port for extra brightness, custom - designed cables (4x 1m Mote cables in the Complete Kit), suitability for mood lighting and under - shelf or cabinet lighting, compatibility with Raspberry Pi 3, 2, B+, A+, Zero, Mac, and Windows, and a Python library. Our Mote Python library has examples like rainbow animations and connection with the Cheerlights API. There's a tutorial for iPhone and Siri control, and an Android app for Android phones. Check our getting - started guide. Note that our software doesn't support Raspbian Wheezy. The distance between mounting hole centres is 167mm, and we recommend a 4g x 1/2' (2.9 x 13mm) round - head screw for mounting.

Using Mote is easy. First, connect the USB controller to your computer with the provided USB A to micro B cable. If you want brighter pixels, connect a 2+A power supply to the power boost port. You can use the Python library to create cool lighting effects like rainbow animations. For Raspberry Pi users, if you have a Pi Zero, use Mote pHAT to control the Mote sticks through the GPIO. To mount the Mote, use a 4g x 1/2' (2.9 x 13mm) round - head screw as the distance between the mounting hole centres is 167mm. Remember, our software doesn't support Raspbian Wheezy. When it comes to maintenance, keep the device clean and avoid exposing it to extreme temperatures or moisture. If you have multiple USB controllers, make sure you have enough power supply for all of them.
