Product Details

If you're into power adapters or cool toys and gadgets with magnetic connections, this DIY 'MagSafe - styled' USB cable is your chance to explore the future. It features four 0.1 - spaced contact pogo pins on one end and a standard USB - A connector on the other. These pogos connect to power, ground, D+ and D - respectively. When you connect it to another 4 - pin half, the built - in magnets attract each other, creating a solid connection and ensuring all pogos make contact. Try to connect the contacts backward, and they'll repel! If you've had a MacBook or a littleBits set, you'll recognize this functionality. It's ideal for USB power and data connections on microcontrollers or keyboards. Note: This cable only comes with the end having a magnetic connector. You won't get the matching connector, but we're working on a future version that includes it. You'll also need to buy the four - contact - pin DIY magnetic connector set to match this cable.

Using this cable is easy. First, make sure you have the four - contact - pin DIY magnetic connector set. Then, connect the end of the cable with the magnetic connector to the corresponding part of the connector set. The magnets will attract and create a firm connection. When plugging in, ensure the contacts are aligned correctly, or they'll repel. You can use this cable for powering and transferring data on microcontrollers or keyboards. As for maintenance, keep the cable away from sharp objects to avoid damaging the pogo pins and the magnetic connector. Also, don't pull the cable too hard to prevent internal wire breakage. Remember, this cable doesn't come with the matching connector, so you'll need to purchase the connector set separately.
