The ToF HAT is an outstanding high-precision laser-ranging sensor crafted for M5StickC. It's integrated with the VL53L0X and a 940nm VCSEL emitter. This combination allows for high-precision and low-latency object distance detection. The VL53L0X, a new-gen Time-of-Flight (ToF) laser-ranging module in a super-small package, offers accurate distance measurement regardless of target reflectances, unlike regular technologies. It can measure distances up to 2m, setting a new bar in ranging performance and opening doors to various new applications. The VL53L0X features a leading SPAD array and ST’s second-generation FlightSenseTM patented technology. Its 940nm VCSEL emitter, invisible to the human eye, combined with internal infrared filters, enables longer ranges, better immunity to ambient light, and stronger resistance to cover glass optical crosstalk. Communication info: I2C, 0x29, GPIO0/26. Product features include high precision, a max measuring distance of 2m, a 940nm laser VCSEL, and support for Arduino and UIFlow (Blockly, Python) development platforms. It's also a Class 1 laser equipment meeting the latest standards (IEC 60825-1: 2014 - 3rd edition). Dimensions are 24mm x 20.3mm x 13.8mm, and it weighs just 3g. The package includes 1x ToF HAT. Applications range from obstacle and gesture recognition to laser ranging, 3D structured light imaging, and camera assist.




Using the ToF HAT with your M5StickC is easy. First, connect it to the M5StickC following the pin map: connect SDA on the ToF HAT to GPIO0 on the M5StickC, SCL to GPIO26, and match the 3.3V and GND pins. Once connected, you can start using development platforms like Arduino or UIFlow (Blockly, Python) to write code for your specific application, such as obstacle recognition or laser ranging. When using the ToF HAT, keep it away from strong light sources as this may affect its performance. Also, avoid touching the emitter directly to prevent damage. For maintenance, gently clean the HAT with a soft, dry cloth if it gets dirty. Store it in a dry and cool place when not in use to ensure its long - term reliability.
