The LAMP:bit is an amazing accessory for the BBC micro:bit that mimics a real - world street light. It comes with special connections allowing the micro:bit to be easily bolted or clipped directly onto it. This board is not only designed to look like a streetlight but also functions like one, making it a perfect fit for transportation projects. It shares the same cool aesthetic as the STOP:bit, so you can use them together in larger projects. The built - in phototransistor in the LAMP:bit can detect changes in ambient light levels. This means the white LED can turn on and off automatically. If you prefer timed switching, you can add the Kitronik RTC board. Power is supplied from the connected micro:bit through the 0V and 3V pins. We've also created custom code blocks for the MakeCode Editor, available as an extension. The bottom of the LAMP:bit PCB can be snapped off to form a stable cross base. It comes with 1 x LAMP:bit for the BBC micro:bit, 5 x M3 8mm Countersunk Screws, and 5 x M3 Hex Full Nut. It has a height of 135mm, a width of 75mm, and a base width of 42mm. You'll need a BBC micro:bit, a Type - A to Micro - B USB Cable, and the MakeCode Editor to use it. There's also a datasheet available as a resource.

Using the LAMP:bit is easy. First, connect your BBC micro:bit to the LAMP:bit using the provided connections. You can either bolt or clip it on. Once connected, the micro:bit will supply power to the LAMP:bit through the 0V and 3V pins. If you want the LED to turn on and off based on the ambient light, just let the built - in phototransistor do its job. For timed switching, add the Kitronik RTC board. When using the MakeCode Editor, don't forget to add the custom code block extension we've created. You can snap off the bottom of the LAMP:bit PCB to create a stable base. Remember, you'll need a BBC micro:bit, a Type - A to Micro - B USB Cable, and the MakeCode Editor to get started. As for maintenance, keep the board clean and dry. Avoid exposing it to extreme temperatures or humidity. If you have any issues, refer to the datasheet.
