Product Details

The 4.2-inch EPD display (400x300 pixels) of Inky wHAT offers a larger space to show information, opening up endless possibilities. Just like Inky pHAT, it's sharp and easy to read even in strong sunlight. You can use it as a detailed weather display, a calendar, for daily news updates, to list household tasks, or even as a small DIY e-reader. It comes fully assembled with a 40-pin female header for full-size Pis and standoffs to attach securely to your Pi. Additional pins like I2C and SPI are available on the back, allowing you to connect extra devices and show their data on the display. It's compatible with all 40-pin header Raspberry Pi models. Our Python library simplifies displaying text and images, and we've provided a one-line installer for easy setup. The multi-color EPD display uses electrophoresis to show colors and takes about 25 seconds to refresh. You can treat the three-color display as black and white for a quicker refresh. Note that the display is made of glass and is fragile, so handle it with care. Overall dimensions are 91x77x8.5mm (WxHxD), and the display usable area is 84.8x63.6mm (WxH) with a 4.2-inch diagonal.

Using Inky wHAT is a breeze. First, just pop it onto your Raspberry Pi. Then run our one-line installer for the Python library to get everything set up. You can use it for various purposes like showing the weather, your daily schedule, or even reading e-books. When using, you can treat the three - color display as black and white to get a faster refresh in just a couple of seconds. Be careful when handling it. Since the display is made of glass, it's fragile. Don't drop it or press too hard on it. When fitting it on the Pi, grip the edges of the board instead of pressing on the top. There's no need for soldering as it comes fully assembled. For maintenance, keep it in a dry and clean place, and avoid exposing it to extreme temperatures. That's all you need to know to enjoy your Inky wHAT!
