Product Details

An IC (Integrated Circuit) socket makes it a breeze to insert and remove chips from your assembled kit or project. This pack includes 3 sockets of the 40 - pin 0.6 - inch wide version, ideal for chips with 40 pins (2x20) and 0.6 - inch pin spacing. These sockets are perfect for soldering into a Perma Proto or PCB, enabling you to swap chips effortlessly. The best part? They have the same pin spacing and size, so you won't need to redesign your board! In our example, we used the socket in an Adafruit Perma - Proto Breadboard, but any solderable PCB or protoboard works great. However, they're not suitable for solderless breadboards as the pins aren't long enough.

Using these IC sockets is easy. First, if you're working on a Perma Proto or PCB, solder the socket onto it. Then, you can simply insert your 40 - pin chips with 0.6 - inch pin spacing into the socket. When you need to replace a chip, just gently remove it. Remember, these sockets aren't for solderless breadboards because the pins are too short. For maintenance, keep the sockets clean and free from dust. If you notice any loose pins after soldering, you can carefully re - solder them to ensure a good connection.
