Product Details

Hey there! You've signed up for Adafruit.io and are eager to build amazing Internet - connected projects. This starter kit is your perfect companion. It comes with a bunch of parts that work seamlessly with our service and are the most commonly used sensors and actuators. You can sense light, motion, humidity, temperature and more, and then store the data on adafruit.io. Also, you can light up LEDs, make some noise, and move a motor when a trigger is detected. This pack is tailored for those who want to explore IoT using the new low - cost Adafruit Feather HUZZAH with ESP8266 WiFi microcontroller. It includes a Feather HUZZAH development board, and you don't need an Arduino or other microcontrollers. Note that this pack doesn't include a standard USB micro - B cable (any sync + charge cable will do), a solderless breadboard, or a Lipoly battery. You'll need a USB cable to program and debug your HUZZAH, and either USB or a Lipoly battery to power the Feather HUZZAH. You might also want a full - size breadboard and some prototyping wires. Some soldering is required to assemble the Feather HUZZAH ESP8266 and HDC1008 sensor. What's in the pack? It has an Adafruit Feather HUZZAH with ESP8266 WiFi, a Fast Vibration Sensor Switch (easy to trigger), a DHT22 temperature Sensor (as of February 5th, 2016), a PIR (motion) sensor, a Magnetic contact switch (door sensor), a Micro servo, and a Huzzah Starter Pack Component Bag with various items like a breadboard - friendly SPDT Slide Switch, a Diffused RGB (tri - color) LED, a Piezo Buzzer, a Photo cell light sensor, 3x 12mm Tactile Switches, a Diffused 10mm Red LED, a Diffused 10mm Green LED, a 10K Trim Potentiometer, 5x 10K 5% 1/4W resistors, and 5x 560 ohm 5% 1/4W resistors.

Using this IoT starter kit is a breeze. First, connect the Feather HUZZAH development board to your computer using a USB cable. Make sure it's a sync + charge cable, not a charge - only one. You can use this cable to program and debug your HUZZAH. To power the board, you can either use the USB connection or a Lipoly battery. Once your board is set up, start connecting the sensors and actuators. The Fast Vibration Sensor Switch is easy to trigger, so you can quickly test it out. The DHT22 temperature sensor will give you accurate temperature readings. When you want to sense motion, use the PIR sensor, and for door monitoring, the Magnetic contact switch is your go - to. For visual and auditory feedback, connect the LEDs and the Piezo Buzzer. You can also use the Micro servo for some movement - related projects. Remember, some soldering is required to assemble the Feather HUZZAH ESP8266 and HDC1008 sensor. Make sure to follow proper soldering techniques. When it comes to maintenance, keep your sensors and actuators clean. Avoid exposing them to extreme temperatures or humidity. If you're not using the kit for a while, store it in a dry place. And don't forget to disconnect the power source when you're done with your projects to save battery life.
