Product Details

The Trimble Copernicus II is the newest version of the well - loved Copernicus GPS module. It offers top - notch performance and Trimble's renowned quality for a new range of position - enabled products. With the TrimCore™ navigation software, it starts up extremely fast and performs great in foliage canopy and urban canyon areas. This module is compatible with all apps that used the previous Copernicus model. It's super tiny, just 19x19x2.54mm. It has high sensitivity of - 160dBm and a cold - start time to first lock of 38 seconds. It comes with dual serial ports with adjustable UART rates and supports NMEA, TSIP, and TAIP protocols. The SMD castellation leads can be easily hand - soldered, and it's RoHS compliant. Documents include the Copernicus II Manual, SparkFun GPS Tutorial, GPS Tutorial by Michael Simpson, Trimble Studio, and Trimble Support Tools. It replaces the GPS - 07951. Not sure which GPS module suits you? Check out our GPS Buying Guide!

Using the Trimble Copernicus II GPS module is easy. First, make sure to connect it properly according to the wiring diagram in the Copernicus II Manual. Once connected, power it on, and it'll start searching for satellites. It usually takes about 38 seconds for a cold start to get the first lock. When using it in areas with lots of trees or tall buildings, don't worry as it's designed to perform well in such conditions. As for maintenance, keep it clean and dry. Avoid exposing it to extreme temperatures or moisture. If you need to solder the SMD castellation leads, you can do it by hand, but make sure to follow proper soldering techniques. Refer to the included documents like the Trimble Studio and Trimble Support Tools if you run into any issues.
