Product Details

Enhance your wearable FLORA project with this amazing high - precision 3 - axis Accelerometer + Compass sensor. It has two sensors inside. The 3 - axis accelerometer can detect the direction towards the Earth using gravity measurement and tell you the 3D acceleration speed of the board. The magnetometer can sense the source of the strongest magnetic force, usually for detecting magnetic north. By combining the data, you can easily orient yourself. This sensor is based on the latest LSM303DLHC version and has a digital (I2C) interface. Attaching it to the FLORA is a breeze. Just align it with the SDA/SCL pins and sew conductive thread from the 3V, SDA, SCL, and GND pins. They fit perfectly without crossed lines. You can connect only one of these sensors to your FLORA, but you can use the SCL/SDA pins on the opposite side to connect other I2C sensors/outputs. Start with our guide on the Adafruit Learning System. It uses the same Arduino library as our regular LSM303 breakout. Download our library, connect the pins, install it correctly, and upload the test program to get accelerometer and magnetic field data right away.

Using this FLORA accelerometer/compass sensor is easy. First, check if your FLORA project is ready. To attach the sensor, align it with the SDA/SCL pins on the FLORA. Then, sew conductive thread from the 3V, SDA, SCL, and GND pins. Make sure the lines don't cross. Remember, you can only connect one of these sensors to your FLORA, but you can use the other set of SCL/SDA pins for other I2C sensors. Next, go to the Adafruit Learning System and follow the guide. Download the library, connect the 3V, SCL, SDA, and GND pins, and install the library properly. Then upload the test program to start getting data about acceleration and magnetic fields. As for maintenance, keep the sensor away from strong magnetic fields and excessive heat. If it gets dirty, use a soft, dry cloth to clean it gently. Don't apply too much pressure on the pins to avoid damage.
