Product Details

The Explorer pHAT is an outstanding prototyping partner for your Raspberry Pi. It's a smaller and more affordable version of our well - loved Explorer Hat Pro, specifically tailored to fit snugly on a Raspberry Pi Zero. Packed with a wide range of useful input and output options, it can elevate your projects to new heights. Whether you're driving motors, using analog sensors, or interfacing with 5V systems like Arduino, this device is up to the task. It's perfect for creating a mini robot or prototyping various circuits when paired with our Explorer HAT Pro parts kit, thanks to its LEDs, analog dials, and temperature sensor. Key features include four buffered 5V tolerant inputs for Arduino compatibility, four powered 5V outputs with a total of up to 500mA across all four channels, four analog inputs, two H - bridge motor drivers with up to 200mA per channel and soft PWM control. It has a clear pinout, is compatible with multiple Raspberry Pi models such as 3B+, 3, 2, B+, A+, Zero, and Zero W, and comes with a Python library. Note that female headers need soldering. The software uses the same easy - to - use Python library as Explorer HAT Pro with many examples, but it doesn't support Raspbian Wheezy. The inputs use a 5 - channel buffer that accepts 2V - 5V as logic high.

Using the Explorer pHAT is easy. First, make sure you solder the female headers if you haven't already. Then, connect it to your compatible Raspberry Pi model. You can use the four buffered 5V tolerant inputs to interface with Arduino or other 5V systems. The four powered 5V outputs are great for powering small devices, but remember the total current across all four channels shouldn't exceed 500mA. The analog inputs can be used with analog sensors. For motor control, use the two H - bridge motor drivers, keeping in mind each channel can handle up to 200mA. When it comes to software, use the provided Python library and follow the examples to understand how to use different functions. Note that this software won't work with Raspbian Wheezy. As for maintenance, keep the device clean and dry. Avoid exposing it to extreme temperatures or moisture. If you encounter any issues, refer to the Python library documentation or contact our support team.
