Product Details

This rubber sheet is crafted from the same carbon - black impregnated rubber as our conductive rubber cord. It's not just for traditional uses like EMF shielding or conductive gaskets. It's a blast to play with! You can use it as an interesting stretch sensor or a soft, flexible conductive material. In its relaxed state, the sheet has a bulk resistivity of about 50 ohm*mm. When you stretch it, the resistance goes up as the particles move apart. You can stretch it 50 - 70% longer than its resting length. Once you let go, it'll shrink back, though it's a bit slow and takes a minute or two to return to its original size. It's not a super - precise linear sensor, and resistance may vary between batches. We're offering you a 200mm by 200mm square with a 0.5mm thickness. You can easily cut it with scissors or a die. You can use it as a conductor or add a 100 - ohm resistor. Then, follow our Thermistor tutorial to measure the analog voltage and figure out the resistance.

Using this rubber sheet is a breeze. You can use it as a stretch sensor or a soft conductive material. If you want to use it as a sensor, just start stretching it. Remember, you can stretch it up to 50 - 70% longer than its resting length, so don't overdo it. For example, a 6 - foot piece shouldn't be stretched more than 10 feet. To measure the resistance, you can add a 100 - ohm resistor and follow our Thermistor tutorial. Cutting the sheet is easy; just use scissors or a die. When you're done stretching, it'll shrink back to its original size, but it's a bit slow, so be patient. Keep in mind that the resistance might vary from batch to batch, so it's not super precise. There's no special maintenance needed for this sheet. Just keep it in a normal environment and it'll be good to go.
