Product Details

Removing SMD components more intricate than a resistor or SOT-23 can be quite a challenge. You aim to take the part off without harming the traces and, ideally, without damaging the part itself. You could use your hot - air tool, or you can opt for this convenient SMD Removal Kit from Chipquik. It simplifies SMD removal! The kit uses a special metal alloy that bonds well with your solder and remains liquid for an extended period. You can melt it over the existing pads and then remove the SMD with tweezers. This version features a leaded alloy, perfect for use with lead - based solder. In just four easy steps, you're good to go: First, apply flux (we recommend the Chipquick Tack Flux 10cc Syringe) to all the leads of the SMD. Second, evenly solder the alloy on all pins of the SMD. Third, lift or slide the SMD off the board. Fourth, clean the site with a swab dipped in flux, a solder wick, or an alcohol pad. Voila! The kit includes 2.5 feet of Removal Alloy, 1 tube of No - Clean Paste Flux, 5 alcohol wipes, and an instruction sheet.

Using this Chip Quik SMD Removal Kit is a breeze. First, grab the Chipquick Tack Flux 10cc Syringe and apply flux to all the leads of the SMD you want to remove. This helps the solder alloy work better. Next, take the removal alloy and solder it evenly on all the pins of the SMD. The special alloy stays liquid for a long time, which makes it easier to handle. Once the alloy is in place, you can either lift the SMD straight off or slide it gently from the board. After removing the SMD, clean the area on the board. You can use a swab dipped in flux, a solder wick, or one of the included alcohol wipes. As for precautions, since this version has a leaded alloy, it's best used with lead - based solder. Make sure to follow safety guidelines when working with soldering materials. When it comes to maintenance, keep the kit in a dry and cool place. Check the alcohol wipes regularly as they may dry out over time. And always refer to the instruction sheet that comes with the kit for detailed steps and additional tips.
