Product Details

Attention! This TFT is no longer available. But we have another 2.2-inch TFT in our store. Note that it has different wiring and controller, so it's not a direct replacement. This charming display breakout is a great way to add a small, vivid display to your project. Using 3-wire SPI communication and having its own pixel-addressable frame buffer, it works with all kinds of microcontrollers, even those with low memory and few pins. The 2.2-inch display has 220x176 color pixels. Unlike low-cost CSTN displays, this is a true TFT with an HX8340BN driver that can show full 18-bit color (262,144 shades). The same driver chip ensures your code works consistently. The breakout comes with the TFT display soldered on, a 3.3V regulator, and a 3/5V level shifter for 3.3V or 5V power. There's also a microSD card holder to load full-color bitmaps from a FAT16/FAT32 microSD card (not included). We've created a full open-source graphics library with example code and wiring tutorial, written for Arduino but easily portable to other microcontrollers.

To use this 2.2-inch TFT LCD display, first connect it to your microcontroller following the wiring tutorial. Make sure to choose the right power supply, either 3.3V or 5V. You can use the provided open-source graphics library to draw all sorts of things on the screen, like pixels, lines, and text. If you want to show full-color bitmaps, insert a FAT16/FAT32 formatted microSD card into the holder. Remember, this TFT is discontinued, and the new 2.2-inch TFT in the store isn't a direct replacement. When handling the display, be gentle as it uses a delicate flex-circuit connector. For maintenance, keep it in a clean and dry place. If you face any issues, refer to the datasheet and the example code provided.
