Product Details

This eTape Liquid Level Sensor is a remarkable solid - state sensor. It features a resistive output that changes according to the fluid level. Say goodbye to those bulky mechanical floats! It easily connects with electronic control systems. What makes this sensor stand out from our other eTape Liquid Sensors is its hard plastic jacket, which offers great protection against damage. When the sensor is immersed in fluid, the hydrostatic pressure compresses its envelope. This causes a change in resistance that shows the distance from the top of the sensor to the fluid surface. The resistive output of the sensor is inversely related to the liquid height. That means when the liquid level is low, the output resistance is high, and vice versa. This sensor is truly unique. It's both affordable and accurate for measuring liquid levels. This is the 12 - foot model, and it comes with a 3 - pin JST connector for power, ground, and analog output. Reading this sensor is a breeze using a microcontroller or Arduino ADC pin. Just connect the red wire to 3 or 5V power, the black wire to ground, and then read the analog output on the white wire. Note: This product only includes the plastic - enclosed eTape Liquid Level Sensor. In our demo, we paired it with an Adafruit Metro, a TB6612 Stepper Motor Driver Breakout Board, and an Automotive Gauge Stepper Motor.

Using this eTape Liquid Level Sensor is easy. First, make sure you have the right setup. Connect the red wire to a 3 or 5V power source, and the black wire to the ground. Then, you can read the analog output on the white wire using a microcontroller or an Arduino ADC pin. As for the installation, place the sensor in the fluid you want to measure. The hydrostatic pressure of the fluid will do the rest, changing the resistance based on the liquid level. When it comes to maintenance, keep the plastic casing clean and free from any major impacts. Since it has a hard plastic jacket, it's quite durable, but try to avoid rough handling. And remember, this product only includes the plastic - enclosed sensor itself. If you want to set it up like our demo, you'll need an Adafruit Metro, a TB6612 Stepper Motor Driver Breakout Board, and an Automotive Gauge Stepper Motor.
